Hello and how many of you folks are using QS DEFY? Has it worked like MAXLIFE? Just curious as was wondering if it is somewhat like maxlife in that it slows leaks.

It's a fine oil. YMMV
I used Supertech high mileage and then went to QS Defy and started smelling oil-presumably leaking. I went back to Supertech High Mileage, then to Mobil 1 High Mileage and havent smelled it since. Couldn't tell running wise or MPG improvement etc.
It's slows leaks, but not as well as MaxLife IMHO...
I run Defy 10w30 in my Cherokee 4.0L , very smooth oil in this application. Depends on what you want a High Mileage oil to do , for slowing oil leaking/consumption Maxlife is probably better. Defy is great for engines that need higher anti-wear protection or higher zddp .
running DEFY In all 3 of my vehicles as of today.
2 days ago I put my 2nd fill of defy in the jeep after running the first fill 3400 miles (5 months). My rear main seal is only slightly wet and does not drip at all. we will see how defy prolongs the inevitable 4.0 RMS leak. at 87,000 miles
our new to us 1996 chevy suburban got its first oil change today. quaker state defy and a purolator classic. theres a slight RMS leak but again no dripping. the vehicle has 132,000 miles with receipts of mobil 1 10w30 its whole life. wonder how the switch to Defy will play, running m1 just wasn't in budget or correct with short OCIs due to some short trips we expect to make.
2004 pontiac vibe is a few months deep in its first fill of defy. no complaints but there were not issues either. just ran defy because its cheap and the vehicle is in the poorest condition of the 3 vehicles at somewhere in the 150k mile range.
no complaints about the oil but still waiting for time to pass really

I'm currently using it in my mother's '78 LTD, but that car didn't really leak anything to start with. My primary reason was to provide extra zddp for the big 351M engine.
I am using the Quaker State DEFY 5W30 in my '80 Firebird FORMULA V8/4-bbl since I did this OCI in July 2012. I haven't driven the car since late OCT '12.
No changes in my oil dripping from the MaxLife that I was using prior to the DEFY but, time will tell(I'll see next Spring/Summmer/Fall).
3 prior OCI's/Summers were with MaxLife 5W30 which had slowed down my leaks but, didn't stop them completly. The ML also contributed to making this engine quieter/smoother from the other conventional oil I had been using...all name brand oils held in high regard here at Bob's! But, mostly Pennzoil Conventional and Havoline
What I have noticed with the DEFY is, how much quieter/smoother the engine is, even compared to the ML. This particular V8 engine(4.9L/301cid) has never been this smooth in 32 years.
I am noticing this quiet & smooth with most Quaker State oils in general(Quaker State Ultimate Durability, Quaker State Conventional) in my other vehicles lately. I have used Quaker State oils in the past in many vehicles but, never noticed as much, just how quiet my engines are these days while using Quaker State oils.
I have also noticed that some oils make the engine more audiable compared to the oil that I just drained out. Quaker State oils seem as quiet as the better or quieter oils...I can't explain this exactly
With most OCI's, the engine(s) seem the same in terms of smooth/quiet. Amongst a few other brands/wgts, Quaker State oils are the quieter oils I've used.
I have a keen ear and pay close attention to noises in my vehicles. Noises meaning: NVH, squeeks/rattles etc.

I have it in my 2000 Jeep GC, 4.0 with about 125K miles. I will not be using it again, and go back to Maxlife or Mobil 1 High Mileage.
The reason is that the properties of Defy seemed to wear out quickly. i.e. the leaks started up after about 3,000 miles, and the engine tick is back. When new the oil worked fine, it seems to only work in my Jeep for about 3000 miles, and I wanted it to go about 5000.
All this is IMO, but wanted to share my experience with you. It is a very cheap oil, and in this case you get what you pay for IMO.
