Pardon my ignorance, but what are DP Types?

yeah whats a DP? I know the non oil related meaning but there is only one type in that case.

I'm all for saving money on oil. The only reasons I wouldn't look to save money would be if driveability changed or fuel economy deteriorated.

So I'd say try it. If being left with unwanted bottles from your case is a concern, then you can always flip it on Ebay if things don't work out.

Stick with what you have been running unless there is an issue - like fuel mileage is below average. IT IS NOT GOOD TO CONSITENTLY CHANGE DP TYPES AS NOTED BY THOSE WHO SWITCHED TO M1 and got racket. BTW the chevron is a near 20 weight. Never liked chevron ISO syn stock. Never ran good in anything. I would run something heavier than 20 weight in a 2AZ (from a guy who wore one out at 55K using FACTORY filters and Top Quality Oils at sub 5K OCI. 05 rav 4 The engine was absolutely a stupendous ringer the first year; the Best Motor owned in a lifetime (next to my 2005 2.5L Duratec V6 screamer in a Contour Sport 5M)

What happened that youhad it wore out in 55,000miles? Would I be better off with the 5w30? or something heavier. Like I said they spec 10w30 for it every where else but the usa.

Both are at the very top of the barrel when it comes to conventional brand name oils.

I would say go with the one that is cheaper.

I like the Chevron a little better myself. I would go with whatever you can get cheaper in the the weight you are looking for. They are pretty equal in my book.

If you want smoother and quieter, go thicker.

If ARCO rides everything as hard as he does his cars he could wear out Asia Carrera in less than five minutes

Please do not consider his results as typical in any way, shape or form. He's killed more cars than most people on this site have ever owned.

By 'DP', I think Arco means 'dispersant package', or the detergent/dispersant used.

To the OP: I'd switch to Chevron 5w30 if you can get it cheaper. It's a thin 30-weight, and still an excellent oil, easily the equal to PYB.
