I've been running Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 in my Scion XB and have been very happy with it, seems to run a little smoother and the valvetrain is a little quieter than it was with Valvoline NextGen. I do about a 50/50 mix of driving and change the oil every 5,000miles which comes out to an oil change about every 3 months. Anyways, I'm considering running Chevron Supreme 5w30 in it since I can get it by the case much cheaper at work and from my research, the 2AZFE in my car calls for 10w30 everywhere else in the world. I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go as both are excellent conventional oils from what i've seen and the chevron is cheaper for me, but like I said, I've been very happy with the Pennzoil Conventional and it seems like everyone that uses it loves it as well. Which one would you guys pick?

id go with either. both great oils, i run supreme 5W30 in my neighbors dodge neon with a P1 filter year round
Why change? Pennzoil Conventional is rated at or near the top of conventional oils...

Stick with the Pennzoil.
VOA with TBN Pennzoil 5w20 conventional SN/GF-5. Go check this out on Virgin oil analysis..It is amazing.

Changed every 5k miles/3 months with any reasonable conventional, my guess is your engine will be running like a top a 350k miles or more.
Being in the NE, the car itself will be rusting and falling off all around the engine before you ever have an oil related issue on this program. Chevron supreme is a decent oil. I'd use it without hesitation if it was cheaper than the Pennzoil conventional. Your car will not know the difference is my guess.

I'm as big of a Chevron fanboy as they come, but I'd go with the Pennzoil.
I hate to say it because I always roll my eyes when I read guys write, "My engine loves this stuff!", or "My engine eats this stuff up!" but I do have to say since switching to PP and PU from M1, in two different applications, the engines are noticably smoother and quieter with the Pennzoil than with M1.
As others have said the same, there is something in the Pennzoil package that allows this to happen. Consider me a Pennzoil from M1 convert.

When the time comes, Pennzoil Platinum 0w20, which is always stocked at my local Walmart, is going in.
An e-mail response from Pennzoil read the there were no plans to bring to market PU in 0W-20.
So for SOPUS it's either Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Ultimate Durability (which my Walmart also has). With my recent positive experience with PP and PU, I'll go with the PP.
Plus we all know QS sludges motors! J/K.

OC Expense is not the issue here (unless you are UNBELEIVEBALY CASH STRAPPED). This is a minor cost on servicing a vehicle. Skip one Dunken Donut trip a month to pay for the oil
Stick with what you have been running unless there is an issue - like fuel mileage is below average. IT IS NOT GOOD TO CONSITENTLY CHANGE DP TYPES AS NOTED BY THOSE WHO SWITCHED TO M1 and got racket. BTW the chevron is a near 20 weight. Never liked chevron ISO syn stock. Never ran good in anything. I would run something heavier than 20 weight in a 2AZ (from a guy who wore one out at 55K using FACTORY filters and Top Quality Oils at sub 5K OCI. 05 rav 4 The engine was absolutely a stupendous ringer the first year; the Best Motor owned in a lifetime (next to my 2005 2.5L Duratec V6 screamer in a Contour Sport 5M)

I had many different brands conventional and synthetic 5W30 in my '94 LS400 with more than 270k miles, I never felt any different between one brand and another, no different between conventional and synthetic either.
I think you should try Chevron Supreme 5W20 if available to see if you can tell if it performs differently with Pennzoil Conventional 5w20. If you can only get Chevron Supreme 5W30 at your work place, then you may detect slight differences in throttle response and engine quiet.
