Some theorize the reduced airflow on the firewall side of a transverse V engine might cause this. I'm a bit dubious. My daughter has a Chrysler T&C I'll have to check with my heat gun some time.
That actually IS the firewall-side head. It’s also the side that has the PCV valve and that’s another reason it might be dirtier than the other, which just admits clean air from the filter box.
