I've looked at a few used oil analysis, and there have been instances where this oil was run 7,500 miles (I beleive in a Saturn) with some very decent results. But I was wondering if one can expect a 6,000 mile run in a Ford Modular V8 with high sulphur gas (500 ppm), or would that be too much?

I realise this is a Group II+, but it's the sulphur that worries me.

Also, does anybody happen to know what the TBN is of the SM/GF-4 rated Pennzoil Conventional 5w20? The SN/GF-5 isn't yet available, and I cannot find an information sheet for the old stuff. Having said that, I use MMO at every fill up (225 ml/7.6 oz for 72L/19 gallons). Would that lower the TBN or is that not something to worry about?

Before I try the Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5W-20 in my stash, I just want to try a conventional 5W-20 for experimental purposes, and Pennzoil Conventional is the only one available. On a side note, it costs $6.89 a quart for Pennzoil Conventional (in 5W-20 or 10w30 flavour) here from the Chrysler dealership. Only other place that sells it is Ace Hardware for $6.20 a quart.

I reckon you guys get Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra for that price (PP costs $11.55 a quart for 5w30 here)!

My GMQ has the 4.6 modular and i do 5000mi oci.You should be able to do 6000mi oci even with the fuel sulphur content you have. The TBN is around 8-8.4 for Pennzoil conventional 5w20 if memory serves me correctly,as i do not use mmo i'm not sure if it would lower TBN any imo maybe a small amount.Wow i don't envy you having to pay those prices for oil!!!

The only other 5W-20 that's available is the Motorcraft Full Synthetic, which the dealer no longer stocks. They have Synthetic Blend 10w30, Heavy Duty 15w40 and Full Synthetic 5W-50. Considering nearly all Fords call for 5W-20 now, I find this amazing.

As far as 5w30 is concerned, for $8.60 a litre there's Fuchs Titan SuperSyn LongLife 5w30 (API SM/CF, ACEA A3/B4, MB-Freigabe 229.3, VW 502 00/505 00 and BMW LL-01), Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 for $11.55 a quart and and Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4200 5w30 (API SM/VF, ACEA A3/A5/B4/B5/C2/C3, VW 504 00/507 00, MB-Freigabe 229.51, BMW LL-04 and Porsche C30) for $11 a litre.

As far as 0W-40 is concerned, there's Liqui-Moly Synthoil Energy 0W-40 ($8.96 per litre) and Mobil 1 0W-40 ($12.06 per litre).

Couldn't find the TBN for Pennzoil conventional as you asked, but the PU and PP were both around 12!

What is the price of fuel there?

About U.S. $0.85/gal as of last month (9/2010) when crude was about $80-82/barrel.
