I still think these Purolator One blue filters are utilizing Wix Gold filter media. This one looks outstanding just like the Wix Golds used to look like.

Hard to say. Purolator says the PureOne is 99% at 20μ, but the regular WIX filters are still 95% at 20μ.

economically it doesn't make much sense, I don't use filters for their rated amounts, just the 3000 or less since my car burns up oil and by that time it's more economical to replace with another 5qt jug and filter than buying single quarts to top off.

lol. Brain cramp by me. In a hurry this am, meant to type, ever use the slightly longer 14477 oil filter. I think what happened when I edited to put the extra filter length figures in, deleted filter application number. My bad. 14476 and 14477 usually same cost.

That filter material looks like Wix Gold filter media.

I remember the Purolator One filter media being less substantial aka thinner and wavy and not looking good after being run.

These last number of Purolator One blue filter media looks more substantial and much stronger and better after being run.
Aka Wix Gold filter media. I don't care what websites say on them. It would be easy for Purolator to utilize Wix media just because it's available to them now. Given shortage of supplies it's even
easier to see them doing this.

It's why I got a Purolator One blue filter for my Acura TL.

Simple reason: pirolators smaller filters always use those round holes not oval holes

So you really think those world champions running M+H really would think 99.9999 percent of the general public know any difference I'd they put Wix filter media in a blue Purolator ??

I guarantee they are not concerned with that. And to be fair... They should not be concerned... 99 percent at 23 microns aka Wix Gold filter media is vs 99 percent at 20 microns is not worthy of being worried about.

Mann Hummel and Wix have been together for awhile now..... It's not hard to think that they could easily be using filter media from Wix and putting that in other filters.

Now look... If M+H had nothing to do with Wix and they were still totally separate companies... Yeah then that would be assuming a whole lot. I'd agree if that were the case.

It's obviously thicker and it's not hard to see that. And it's also why these filters that are the exact same size the filter media looks better for awhile now with the different older media in them. Even the same sized filters it was thinner and have waviness too them.

Not seen that for awhile now.

It would make good business sense to get the media from one contract. That company could manufacture media depending on the product line. Same with other material sourcing.

Not to be that guy that gives obvious information, but obvious information - buy 5 qt jugs and use what you need then use the rest next oil change. I have a burner and no way I'm paying single quart price, but I'm not about to do a 3k change either.

It's what's recommended in my repair manual. I also like to change my oil and want this car to last.

Good to see someone else looking to get big miles from an old "roller"! I've been piecing together my '07 CE with the (somewhat) rare 5 speed, it gets OG Ultra or FPS 3600s, & then an FL-400s or Purolator One PL20195s-there's PLENTY of room for a bigger filter!

What oil you using in your Corolla Bullwinkle?

At the moment it has RGT 5W30, but it’s going to get some of my big box stash of M1 HM 5W20 next (before winter). With its’ rather steep, long legged gearing, I want to see if I can crack the 40 MPG highway number with it. Need to get the new RT43s & new wheels (already got them mounted & balanced), new TYC headlights, paint the grille, & try to sweet talk a body guy I know into painting the hood (I think my brother followed every gravel truck on I-75, it looks like it got hit with bird shot). The xB is going to be laid up for a little bit-A/C evap (requiring dash removal), exhaust work, 1 window regulator, & maybe a new paint job; so Mrs. Bullwinkle has something to drive!
