Yeah I picked up some filters the other day and noticed the ones toward the front of the shelf had over spray. Anyone know how to read the date codes? I figure its probably just a newer batch problem. Wouldn't be surprised if they already fixed it.
Sand flaking off? Where on the outside of the filter? That won't do any harm to your engine. I cleaned the tops off pretty darn good. After these are exhausted I may just go with the cheapest ones that have the screen inside.
Went to an AAP in ATL area yesterday and looked at several PP1 oil filters - all were perfect , no over spray what so ever . I have a Buick I now use them on because it makes it so much easier to grip and install in hard to reach areas . The oil filter placement on a Buick 3.1L is terrible !!
