Purolator filters

Yup. Motorcraft filters are basically a Purolator classic with a silicone ADBV, and I think a few of them are thread end bypass (the puros are dome end).

I have yet to see a motorcraft filter with a silicone ADBV. In fact, each classic and motorcraft filters I cut up have all had the same ADBV.

Personally, I'm a Purolator guy. Shoot, they have a NICE deal going on now, well, a handful of good deals right now!

I bought 5 Purolator PureOne filters, got 10 bucks off that order, and sent in a rebate for 4 of the filters. in the end, the total expense on 5 of those filters comes out to 2.59 PER filter.

Kemo...any motorcraft filter ending with an S has a silicone ADBV, 910s, 400s, 820s, 500s, to name a few.
Also, most of the motorcraft filters I've encountered have threaded end bypass setups. FL1a, 910s, 400s, 820s, etc. The aftermarket equivalents seem to vary greatly, with most having a dome end bypass. Premium aftermarkets will usually have a threaded end bypass.

Here's a picture of one, does that count?:

I'll be dipped... I've never seen one before on a motorcraft

Then again, I don't use motorcrafts lately because I've been able to buy PureOne filters for almost a buck less than a motorcraft!

This is ref to a 2008 Chrysler sebring w/ 2.7 engine.

I am changing the oil for the first time since I just bought the car.

My owners manual calls for Mopar 04884899AB.
I have used the cross reference and all these filters are the large diameter. I saw them in the store.

The problem is, the car has a small diameter filter. Its still on the car and I haven't pulled it yet.

At another Forum someone told me as long as the gasket had a "seat" and the threads matched, I could use either large or small diameter.
THANKS...

BlueOvalFitter, just because Purolator makes Motorcraft filters, do not automatically assume they are identical.

Champion Laboratories makes the factory-installed filters for Ford. They also make SuperTech filters for Wally World. Those are NOT the same filter. Champ also makes K&N, Mobil 1, and Royal Purple filters. My point is that just because they are all made by the same company, they are not all the same quality.

Ford specifies a thread-end bypass and silicone ADBV on their filters, and the Motorcraft versions have those, but the regular Purolator filters use a dome-end bypass and nitrile ADBV.

You can certainly use Purolator filters on your F150 and will likely get very good service from them, just be aware that they are not the same as Motorcraft filters. I believe Ford specifies the bypass and ADBV their way for a reason.

To clarify ... not all Motorcraft oil filters have a silicone ADBV and a base end bypass valve.

Thank you, ZeeOSix...I should have qualified my statement. The Motorcraft filter for the OP's application specifies a silicone ADBV and a base end bypass valve.
