one more time on motorcraft filters

Both have an ADBV and Ford spec's always include an open end valve placement. The differences are in the bypass valve setting.

Since I can get the most out of WIX. There's slight distinctions in terms of diameter and burst strength ..but the bypass setting is the big thing that sticks out with me

the motorcraft site is not updated very often, they do not have the applications for the new FL500 up yet. now my parts lookups at work update the FL2005 to FL400S when i did my October updates. i think they did it because anything that requires that filter is out of the 3/36 warranty now.

I'm not arguing with you ..at all. I would think that it's probably a really low called for number. I don't know of too many outlets for MC filtration products (me personally) beyond the dealer or WM. I don't recall seeing a FL2005 ever ..and often have a hard time finding the FL910

Gary:
Would you say those filters (400s and 2005) would be relatively equivalent? I'm using the FL400s on my 2.3 liter Saab (takes a 3/4-16 thread) that I get from my Walmart, which has both filters. Just this moment I can't remember if there is a price difference.

If so, should I just get the cheaper one of the two? I relly like the 400s.

the 2005 is a better filter, but for whatever reason they are discontinued. you will still be able to get them for a long time, as i'm sure there are a lot out there that haven't been sold yet.

At Walmart they should cost $3.47 unless they're the big diesel filters. I think you can fit a bigger one on your Saab. Every Ford filter (that I can recall off hand) other than the 820S is a 3/4-16 thread and near identical gasket (2.7x vs. 2.8x OD). It's just a matter of can diameter and length differences.
