what is the motorcraft oil filter equivalent to a purolator Pure one PL14610? have heard good things about the motorcraft filters and want to try one on my car. also are Napa and baldwin filters any good? i know napa, has gold, proselect etc, which one is the best napa one?

Napa gold is the good one, it's made by wix and a great value. Baldwin makes a filter for nearly every need in terms of size, bypass pressure, micron rating ect...so if you go baldwin make sure you know what you're getting
alright ill check out the gold one. what about the motorcraft do they have an equivalent to the purolator PL14610?

There is no equivalent MC. A Napa Gold 1536 or Wix 51356 is a good alternative.

My old kia called for pl14610 the book at advance also listed motorcraft fl821.
Someone posted their 'recent oil change' and IIRC they mentioned using a FL-822, but it was a Ford dealer that installed it.

Based on Advance Auto look up specs, it looks to be the fl821. However, the fl822 may have superceeded the 821, or vice versa.
That said, looking at the specs on site, not sure what is gained over the PL14610? No S at the end indicates that unlike the P1 it has a nitrile adbv, and afaik it has the same dome end bypass design as the P1.
Regular price looks to be similar, but the P1 can be had for discounted price ~$3-5 regularly. The 821/822 looks most similar to a Classic than a P1. For the same or less money, I'd take the PL14610, but that's just me.

I think the FL-821 or FL-822 is basically a Purolator Classic (except Motorcraft advertises a worse efficiency number), so if you want a better filter in that size configuration, then go for the PureOne PL14610. The FL-822 does have the same bypass valve setup as the PL14610 (ie, spiral flat spring).

Stick with the PureOne.....its one of the best mid-tier filters out there....and considered by many as the "best bang for the buck".

Agreed, P1 sounds like the better option. Or even a Napa Gold/Wix for that matter. As mentioned, most can be found on RockAuto if you can't get them locally.
im just testing them. im very satusfied with the pure one ive been using for the last few oil changes (since i switched to synthetic)
Ah, ok. Well, please report on the results! Do you plan on cutting any open?
i plan on cutting open the purolator. due for an oil change in 300 miles ill be cutting open that one. dont know how to post pics on here so ill be putting them in my facebook pic album. ill use the napa this upcoming oil change and cut it open in another 4,000 miles.
