purolator classic improvement over Napa pro select

For awhile now i've had valve train rattle at start-up and 2500 RPM cold (I shift at 2700). Wednesday I picked up a Purolator classic at Walmart when getting my 5w30 Supertech oil, rather than getting the usual NAPA proselect. After changing the oil today, no start-up or 2500RPM rattles.

I have had good success and start up rattle with both filters. But, mostly in my '04 Altima 2.5S. I have been staying with the Puro Classics as the success rate for me is better as is their availability.

They seem to be good filters for short OCI's. Dont leave it on to long on you will suffer the consequences

I had a puro classic on my 2.2 Dodge with a side mount filter that had the start up tick after a few months. That is when I found that Micro-guard was now a Wix filter, so I switched. The MG has been on for almost 3 mos now and no start up noise. I wish I would have dissected the classic, I thought the adbv leaked so just I swapped it out. Now I wonder if a torn pleat could have been the cause. If you dissect your filters please let us know what you find.

A torn pleat 'if' there, would be highly unlikely to cause/contibute to a start up rattle. But since speculating, 'if' anything it would be more likely to be the opposite.

Curious, what size do you use? The ProSelects have 3 different ADBV/Combo valve arrangements depending on application. Some have been reported to cause start up issues on some vehicles, while others (such as the PH16 equivalent) have turned out to be stellar in that regard.
