The real test will be how well it performs, after use. We aren't able to glean much from an unused filter. With polymer-backed media, there is little chance of the media tearing while in service. Media tearing is the biggest problem with Purolators.
I wouldn't hesitate to use a Boss, however, the price relative to a FRAM Ultra makes the Boss a less attractive option.
