I had a Nissan Sentra SER SpecV with a 2.5L engine that I recently sold...

For the most part, I used Mobil1 5W/10W-30 in her, but had an issue with the Purolater L14610 filter. It seems they would leak, with just a little bit of oil seeping out of the gasket area. It wasn't a major concern, since the car really didn't lose much oil. But it was a bit annoying. I used this the filter twice with the same result, so I highly doubt it was just an anomaly. Maybe a "bad batch?"

But I went to NAPA GOLD/WIX afterword and didn't have any problems for the rest of the time I had it (although it did use a little more oil than I liked for a car that had 40,000mi on it)...

I think purolators have a flat gasket, the oem ones are rounded like a big o-ring.
How tight were you putting them on?

Hand tight, but tight enough I needed a filter wrench to get one of 'em off...

I have to say, I've used many Purolaters, and this was the only problem ever...

Using NG/WIX seemed to solve everything.

The honda version - the 3587 has rounded gaskets in Champ and ST - shoter and fatter.
The purolator vesion is flat eg the 14459.

Char Baby,
The 24458 and the 20073 have different gasket sizes (1/4" difference). Not sure if this would cause any leaks on your vehicle. If it does, then other than the L14459, which is slightly larger in volume, you'd have to go to a Wix 51344 for the oversized filter. Hope this helps.

That filter didn't fit my Spec-V, but the Wix 51347 does. It has Meagen header, K&N CAI, Greddy Evo cat-back, KVR drilled discs (major mods).
