PureOne vs. Mobil 1 for extended OCI

I recommend the Motorcraft FL820S as this baby flows really well. (Definitely not the same media as the Pure1). If you want to mix it up a little, use the PureOne PL24651 in the summer months and FL820S the rest of the year. If money is no object, see if you can find the largest Amsoil filter that fits.

The Mobil 1 0w20 will probably have no trouble going 7500 mainly highway miles. Do an UOA after the second 7500 mile OCI with Mobil 1 0w20 and that should tell you if it's safe to go 10K miles.

By the way, the Amsoil filter for this application is the SDF-11.

Just so someone doesn't get confused here, the FL1A has different threads than the PL24651 and FL820S.

Aside from the aforementioned thread difference. Our post originator has a GF/future wife that puts on almost 500 miles a week. This I translate in to cram packed lifestyle. One that doesn't lend itself easily to any 12 week schedule.

Given that in 4 years she's going to want another vehicle (women who drive this much mileage tend to become "caraphbics" = nickel and dime doesn't cut it for them) AND that you have better things to do than calculate the this and the that of all this stuff. You obivously don't want to fortify the lubrication system with something like an Amsoil bypass that would enable you to go the distance without too much worry.

I'd say just change the oil every spring and fall and add as needed in between ..and not even worry about it. With your circumstances and "givens", I don't think it much matters.
