And you wouldn't know it, since you stopped using Purolators. And it seems you distrust who share their good experience with Purolators, how will you ever find out?... So I think the only way you will trust the result is for you buy it and run it on your car/vehicle.

Nope, personally I'll just wait and watch the experience of others for a year or two. If I see no tears in that time I'll buy them again.

The response wasn't exactly for you. He said in his other posts/response that he stopped buying Purolators. So if he is not buying, and keeps doubting good experiences of others who bought it, how will he ever know if it's really good or not.

Your response is more reasonable. You wait and see.

Is there a LARGER MotorCraft filter# that can be used in the place for the #24458?

Not sure about Motorcraft, but you can go to any Napa and get a 1344 (Wix 51344)

It will take quite awhile to gain the confidence of many here to use Purolators again. The damage is done, and Purolator didn't make any effort to address the issue, but instead just went silent. Bad PR which caused mistrust. That's the way it is in business.

Oh I agree completely. Saying it like that is a lot better.... than essentially saying "you're a liar. That is not a Purolator."

The way I took it was he wasn't calling you a liar ... think the counterfeit comment was more tongue in cheek.

Especially considering there is no reason to go back to using them. Its not like they were the only good filter option available. There are just as good for a good price easily available.

for the select few who make life decisions based on a flawed incomplete excel sheet with no success stories to contrast a true failure rate i would like to buy your neglected purolator classics for 25 cents a piece.

Sounds good ... but shipping and handling will be $6.99 each.

I wouldn't say the spreadsheet is flawed ... it pretty much proved there was a definite issue with tearing media which has never been seen on this board before. If tearing media was "common and normal", then it would have been seen and discussed ever since this chat board was started.

O yeah i stopped using them at my shop as a lot of others have stopped using them its not worth the risk of losing a newly rebuilt engine of ours that i have to warranty and having my reputation tossed out the window. But i can still check them out because we do a lot of engines and i see them quite often and i can check those. I said we see a lot of them and others as well and to date nothing so far filter wise has been blamed for any engine problems at my shop so far there have been a couple years back but that is debatable also and it was years ago and i don't 100% remember the brand anymore. So i am saying it now, i have not seen a purolator directly destroy an engine. If they improve i will use them again but they have to really improve and only time will tell if i cut say 30 of them open and i see no tears then maybe in a year or two i can afford to take the chance.
Dont forget group 7 which is a jobber purolator was my go to filter for 20-25 years and they worked well i know they did not filter like some of them but i loved their flow.

Spoiler alert, just cut open topic'd PL14459 just off a ~5800mi oci on Civic and like the OP's it too looks excellent. As soon as pics taken it will be posted.

A break in the paper means very little if any filtering (allow circulation of unfliered oil) . It will affect engine longevity. How much is the question.

You win the most ridiculous statement of January award.

Heck, why not just run an empty can.
