I just purchased a good quantity of Fram PH5 filters at my local store. They were getting rid of inventory, and even though I`m by no means a Fram fan, at $1.00 per filter I can live with them for awhile. Your thoughts?

Work fine.

Just follow the MFG recommend for a OCI and your good to go.

Since Fram is the Number #1 filter mfg I wonder why I just don't see all the cars along the side of the freeway everyday with blown engines?

I'd run them and buy them if I could get for $1 each.

Take care, bill

I agree with Bill 100%.

Always hear about how bad Fram filters are, not much unbiased proof.

For $1 each run them and smile everytime you hear some one brag about spending $10 on a super duper pooper scouper oil filter.

Fram uses cardboard end caps inside; but you can't see that. Also, what's the micron rating? I'd use it in our older cars without thinking about it. Not in my truck or Accord though.

If you change your mind, you can simply exchange them at a local auto parts store or Walmart.

Who carries the Pooper Scouper brand? I got $10 to blow...

before i came to this site i ran frams with not one problem. only started using "better" filters when learned there are better constructed filters for same price or little more $

I think you got a heck of a deal.

Most of use would agree that the construction of Frams leave a bit (or more) to be desired.

But everything should be taken in context. You paid a $1 for a filter that can easily go 3k miles, and probably 5k with no issues. My BIL uses Frams on his Murano, for the recommended 7.5k miles OCIs. I wouldn't; but he does. And he hasn't blown anything up yet.

If you stick to 5k miles or less, and you're not running in some wicked environment that would tax the construction, the Frams will suffice.

There are better choices, but not for the price you paid.

Fram filter are good filters. If they we as bad as everyone who spend 10.00 on a filter says they are Fram would be out of business! It's not about how much filter is inside the can its about the quality of the filter material inside the can !

Yes, the quality of the cardboard...........???????

Yeah, Fram's cardboard end caps are of a slightly better quality than say your average cereal box cardboard....

Every time I used or put fram filters in the jeeps I work on, the oil pressure reaches VERY low limits when idling hot. Has nothing to do with oil or oil viscosity...ONLY the [censored] Fram filter. I liked purolator or napa filters in the jeeps, the pressure stayed good.
