PUP.Optional.V...

What is this PUP.Optional.V... that Malware Bytes Keeps finding? My other malware detectors aren't finding it. But, for example, yesterday it found 71 PUP.Optional.V...s and I had to check on each one to get rid of them. I'm not overly savvy on computers. I'm sure someone here knows all about things of this nature. Thanks Much.

I like the ADW Cleaner as well as Junkware Removal. Combofix also ain't bad. They basically will clean out your browsers and cache of programs that download this stuff after MB cleans it...

try rebooting in safe mode w/networking and running an eset online scan also.

usually finds more if malwarebytes found that many.

It a "Puppy program" that was added to something you downloaded. Allow MalwareBytes to remove it and then reboot.

MBAM sometimes flags legitimate files as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). The last scan I did, it flagged the installers for both ImgBurn and WinAmp in my Downloads folder.

yea they have PUP in them.

PUP = potentially unwanted programs

ie toolbars other bundled software you install if you dont find the magic checkbox hidden in the corner.
