Currently deciding between Castrol 5w30 and 0w-40. It gets hot here in FL so I'm leaning towards the 40w.

Was that the newer Pure Plus (GTL) version?

x 2 - Hard turbo use would require a slightly heavier oil (particularly if you are increasing boost/turbo size or running into the "infrared" zone).

Don't go trying to reinvent the wheel by using the incorrect oil grade. I have put 40k total miles on my ST and Escape with the 2.0 EB and the PUPPP 5w30 has performed exceptionally well being changed out at 6k.

Over on the ST forums, you will find plenty of people with tunes and other mods running 10k on dealer oil with no issues.

Run the Ultra Platinum in 5w30 and call it a day.

Hey, I support our domestic economy anyway I can. I sold my 2010 F150 for this new 2015 F150, & my family have been nothing but Ford our entire lives. The 2.7 was the best option for me. I don't tow anything, but I need the interior room of a crew cab, but use the bed a lot. It's way faster than my 2010 F150 with its V8. I LOVE the Sport Mode button.

I agree it doesn't sound like the OP is worried about the warranty anyway. As to shear people speak of id try something like SS in 10w30 and see how that holds up!

The problem is M1 0w40 is so cheap, so its hard not to make that recommendation. Im not one to deviate from the factory recommended grade, however so i would stick with a 30Wt if it was my car.

PU is a great choice for a turbo. One of the best choices out there IMO.

Go with Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 and don't look back.

I am interested in people's thoughts on T6?? I see a few guys on the ST forums use it. Guess it does well with turbos and high heat??

OP, My motor is similar to your's. 2.0 4 cylinder with a single turbo. Also spec'd for 5W30. I've run Pennzoil Platinum, Ultra, Mopar synthetic and M1EP without issues.

One of its intended uses is to be dumped in the oil pan of an 18 wheeler that will be run foot-to-the-floor for hours on end with a big turbo spooled up.

I would think it is a great candidate for your ST.

It won't meet warranty requirements, but if you are modifying it ...

Sounds like diesel might be a bit of a power robber.

Let us get serious here.
You might want a low vis, high HTHS, REAL synthetic that is NOT ILSAC rated CAFE oils.

An ACEA A3,B4 BMW LL01 rated like Motul Xmax. Fuchs Silkolene, Pentosin, ELF/TOTAL Solaris.

Deutsch or Francais huile für Ihr leistungsstarker motor1!

Okay, kinda stuck here. I've narrowed it down to a couple of oils(I think)

1. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in 5w30. Walmart out of stock. Amazon $60

2. Castrol Edge Euro A3/B4 0w-30. Amazon $50 for 6qts

3. Castrol Edge Euro A3/B4 0w-40. Amazon $27 for 5qts

I've heard great stuff about the Euro Edge. Can't find 5w30, tho the other 2 should be fine. Between PUP & Edge, which one will keep my engine cleaner?

I'm also thinking to stick with the 30 weight oils till the engine breaks in then switch to a 40 weight?

Friend of mine have Focus 2b ST with 5 pot Volvo engine. Car is modified to 400 who. He swears on Motul 300 5w 30. According to him through oil is only one that doesn't share after few k. He also tried other 5w30 Euro spec oils and none of them could maintain same hot idle pressure after 5k. Motul doesn't seem affected and goes full OCI remaining the same oil pressure.
