I have replaced both complete CV joints / boots and boots only , after removing the half shaft from the vehicle . Best I remember , I have also replaced the wheel side boot , with a split boot , w/o removing the half shaft from the vehicle . Not sure if split boots are available for the transmission side CV joint ? Kind of think not ?

My impression is most CV joint wear / damage occurs after the boot fails & lets the grease out , dirt & water in .

Have never replaced a wheel bearing on FWD .

I've been 50-50 on FWD wheel bearings. My Jetta needed a set at a paltry 105k. Wife's car ate 'em around 150k--I think the first one at 140k and the other at 160k, something like that, I went with conventional wisdom to "just replace as they fail" and nope, IMO it's better to replace both if you are going to pay a shop for labor. But the wife's Camry still has the originals at 203k and I think mine still has the originals at 223k (but I bought used with 140k so there's a chance they've been done).

My boots haven't failed yet, just looking not too far from it. So it's on the list of stuff to do, eventually. PS flush, ATF flush, CV reboot, ball joints, alignment, TB, coolant flush. I wouldn't be surprised if wheel bearings are required.

I have a little bit of noise from my Camry. I've replaced the tires and no change, I had the wheel bearings replaced and not really any change in sound.

I wonder if it's a noisy transmission. It's not bad, just a small growl I guess.

Probably because you drive the newer car too much. Maybe you should drive the Jeep for a few days, then the Camry will sound quiet.
