pull to right when braking with new calipers

I have a '96 explorer xlt 4 disc brakes. I have a pull to the right on braking. It does it about 50% of the time. I pulled left caliper and made sure all was proper. I applied antiseize on the pins and the problem was still there. I then replaced both calipers with all new equipment(Pins, SS slide etc and I still have the same pull. I am at a loss at what to do next. Car has 156k miles on it I purchased it new and have flushed the brake fluid every couple of years since new. There is significantly more brake dust on the right wheel

Could the right rear brake be dragging? Just a thought.

Have you changed the brake hoses? This will do this ..but it can be accompanied with a delayed pull to the other side. The kinked hose delays actuation of the caliper ..then delays its release ..causing a pull one way ..then a pull the opposite direction.

Your "50% of the time" thing makes it confusing though. Your brake dust evidense does point to the left caliper as the offending component.

Kind of sounds like you have air in the system still. Possibly on the opposite side as the direction it is pulling..

Either the new right front caliper is dragging or the proportioning valve is sending more fluid to the right front caliper.

A few more possible causes:

- unevenly worn pads (inside/ouside)
- defective or loose caliper
- restricted brake line or hose
- loose supension parts
- alignment off
- tire pressure differs between left and right

Most of the time it's the flexible rubber brake hoses. I would replace them both.

I replaced both rubber lines and problem solved. I think what was happenining was the right caliper was causing the right pads to get hot and causing more braking on the right side. Thanks for the input..Ray
