I brought my own oil to my dealer for OC, a new jug of PU SN 5-20... my previous oil in car was PU SM 5-20 (Older spec SM formula)after driving off the dealers lot i noticed engine revved with more strain , it took longer to rev , and power felt more lethargic.

Do you think dealer did use different fluid (potentially barrel conventional oil maybe heavier like 5-30???) Would UOA be able to tell if oil in there now is a PU or is it other oil and i got screwed by the dealer ?

A UOA could tell if it's different than PU as long as you have a UOA on legitimate PU also to compare to...

Yes you could even pull the sample now and send it in if you have a vacuum pump that can go through the dipstick tube. You only need a little bit to fill the sample cups frog Blackstone and it should be clear what viscosity and additives are in the oil.

There will be some leftovers from the previous fill but it was older PU which is pretty close additive wise with high calcium mainly.

Make sure to send the sample in a small box and when they ask if anything is liquid or hazardous at the post office answer no. Sometimes mailing in the provided plastic container will result in delay or refusal. Read up on the UOA section if you have more questions.

If you weren't actually there to watch them pour the PU in, then more than likely they filled it up with bulk.

Your PU bottle is probably on its way home with one of the technicians.

i hear ya, i normally ask for empty bottle back I did not this time ,so it was an easy snatch for them

The real question is, what are you going to do if you find out its bulk 5w30 with a much different additive package? PU should be readily identified by the high calcium, moly and Boron.

An inferior bulk oil will likely have no Boron, but you will have residual Boron from the API SN Ultra. The tell tell marker would probably be calcium which PU has over 2,600 virgin. Anything under 2,000 in a uoa would likely indicate a different oil was used.

thanks guys, we will get them and if proven I will make a huge stench at the dealership , dealership I bought 4 cars from in last 10 years ...
