At Napa, you can get transmission cooler hose (should be perfect for power steering line too)
5/16" 400 working PSI - $3.33/ft Part # H1936
3/8" 250 working PSI - $1.80/ft Part # H1956
3/8" 400 working PSI - $3.60/ft Part # H1937
Long story but... I'm moving a 2200 OHV engine from a 2000 into a 2004. Its PS pump is on the other end of the motor so the hoses are different. Since the rack nuts are rusted solid I moved the whole rack, but busted the loop of metal return line they call a "cooler". So I'm splicing/ clamping rubber hose on what's left of the metal line, and staying out of Death Valley.
Wouldn't a piece of steel tubing be a lot cheaper than the rubber hose and still function as the cooler that you may or may not need? It's slightly more work to bend it up, but not much and securing it in place will be easier.
Never mind. I lopped off the return hose from the other rack and bent the steel line a bit in the direction in which I need to be in. Two hose clamps and I'm calling it good.
Hose had a braided metal liner that almost looks like that flexible metal conduit electricians use. Probably so it won't kink. Cool! It went in the new hose.
In my experience, don't use fuel line hose for transmission cooler or PS return hose. It won't take the heat and becomes brittle and hard fairly quickly.
