PS fluid for camry?

I turkey baster the PS fluid out every 6 months or so. I know it calls for Mecron but just wondering if I could go with Mobil 1 or should I just stick with Mecron? Or, other recommendations?

I noticed it whining a bit when I turned, so I replaced some fluid and it stopped. I am always surprised how dirty the PS fluid is. Or I think it's not dirty until I put the new fluid in.

I've used Maxlife in my 02' Taurus and have been very happy.
Also look into Lubegard Power Steering additive.

Don't know much about Honda's. I know some of them require special PS fluid.

What year is your Camry?

PS seems to run hot so I favour a synthetic fluid like Amsoil ATF all purpose .
Regardless replacing with any fluid when you can helps .

for my wifey's 04 camry (bought w/ 58k on odo, we are the 2nd owner), I used turkey baster to change the power steering fluid fluid.1st time change I added AutoRx to clean/rinse whatever in the system, then filled with Walmart/Supatech power steering fluid(clear/light amber colour). Since then, I would routinely perform blast-n-fill in smaller quantities yearly, no whines not anything so far (car now is over 162K).

Yes, power steering fluid does run hot and will gradually "boil off" over time, citing a recent scenario where my friend's dad 99 corolla (*yes, that dreaded, much talked about oil burning one, but in his case: 1 qt every 5k OCI @254k on odo, all previous oil changes done by stealership bulk) developed a light squeal during 1st start in the morning. Upon close inspection: power steering fluid fluid was extremely low (no leaks)and a lot of brown lumpy stuff sitting at the bottom of the reservoir. Service records showed no servicing done to the power steering fluid system all these years of former owner's ownership. I topped up the fluid with some power steering fluid and added autoRx and will do the turkey baster drain-n-fill this summer.

Your Camry should be Dex II or III. Check the PS cap, written on it. I use Maxlife ATF. Has seal conditioners, cleaners, full syn. Having no issues, no leaks.

Does say Dex 111 but just wondering if I could use M1 or Maxlife ATF. So could I or should I just stick with Dex?

Q.
Your suppose to drain all the PS fluid out after putting Auto RX in and 1000 miles. Don't know if it would matter to leave it in longer while changing out some of it with turkey baster. I recently started using a hair shampoo pump and find it much easier to use than the turkey baster. Whoever recommended that, thanks.

I can't speak for the M1 but I can tell you the maxlife is working excellent. My car has high miles, not having any issues using it.

Using Maxlife in my brothers 05 Camry. Works fine.

M1 has worked well for me since Mobil came out with ATF. Never had a pump fail. Performs very well in cold temps.

One thing about MaxLife is that it meets the Dex VI viscosity specs, so it may be too thin for certain power steering systems.

I'd stick with M1 in this application, as it's the proper viscosity, and it'll handle the entire temp range better than just a cheap Dex/Merc fluid.

I have used Maxlife in my Toyota's PS fluid.

It is a Dex/Merc spec.
