Was recently at Rural King and found Providence synthetic blend 15w40 hdeo. Noticed that it was fleet rated, and bought some to try in my flat tappet Chevy 350. Haven’t used it yet, but at $19.99 for two gallons, figured it was worth a try. Does anyone know the ZDDP of this oil? This 350 crate engine has been in this truck since at least 1987, and has always used Rotella T4. Opinions are appreciated.

VR1 10w30 would be my choice. Good for 3000 miles as per Valvoline. Proven Performer. I would not run a newer Diesel oil in a Flat Tappet application. Older diesel oil, yes, newer, no.

Another Would be ZRod from Amsoil, made specifically for this

Another would be Royal Purple HPS

Are there any ratings, certifications on that Providence oil? If I go for economy, I prefer Kirkland or QSFS.

That oil meets the Ford WSS-M2C171-F1 spec. shown on the label, so it should have the 1000-1200 phosphorus content required for the Ford 6.7L Diesel engine. Shake up the bottle and send in a sample to get the real answer on ZDDP content.
