Protec wix 101 / 51515 cut open

This was on my coworkers 2010 Chrysler T&C 3.3 V6 for 2000 miles and 2 months use. This is the engine I pulled that 16,000 mile abuse jobber filter of and posted about 2 months back. The oil came out looking way better than I thought it would considering how it looked last time. Shell Rotella T4 15W40 with 1 quart of MMO was used during this OCI. The tears on the outer edge of the media were from me looking through it in a hurry, nothing was ripped when I cut the can open. Replaced with Same oil and filter minus the MMO.

Did they happen by you just touching the pleats while inspecting them?

Sounds like it, and if so it sounds like the media is pretty weak and brittle if it tears just from pushing the pleats over with a finger.

Yes, but I was spreading them apart pretty roughly looking for any metal or debris. It took a bit to tear them by spreading.
