Ordered a couple Protec filters and decided to cut one open. It is the made in China one, but does appear well built. A little heavier than the Wix 51334. Counted 56 pleats on the protec.

In this case, the "Wix" 51334 looks to be the "M&H" S Korea made version. Very similar in appearance to the Hyun/Kia OEM. C&P anecdotes have shown them to be well made. Being the jobber/commercial line, understandable the Protec has a nitrile adbv. Looks ok, though I'd prefer a silicone adbv. Would need to know pricing to compare to other similar jobber tier filters.

Protec is $2.14 at RA and the Wix is $4.81
Excellent! I think @53' Stude mentions the Mexico made ones are not as well built. This one from China looks real good.
