Filter came out of my 2018 Ram Promaster with the 3.6L Pentastar engine with 310,045 miles.
This filter was in the engine a total of 34 days, accumulated 217 hours of runtime and 11,188 miles.
Other stats, during this OCI the engine burned 674 gallons of gas, averaging 16.6 mpg.
I usually change the oil and filter between 8 and 9k miles, but this time I was 'stuck' out west and decided to wait until I got back home.

Out: Wix Protec PXL10010 and Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30.
In: Another Wix Protec PXL10010 and some more Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30.

A few metal particles, which is 'normal' for this engine. It hasn't changed for the last 100k miles that I owned this van. What changed though is the amount of carbon in the pleats. It wasn't stuck in the pleats, very loose, felt more like sand while rubbing it between the fingers. Even though there is not much compared to what I have seen in other filters, I don't remember ever seeing that much carbon in the filter coming out of this engine. Maybe the Pennzoil Platinum did some cleaning, or the oil was run longer than before, so obviously more carbon accumulated. I'll see what shows up in the next filter.

Very nice work as always sir. Thank You

Looking at oil filters is relatively new to me so I'm not sure what to make of most of the photos people post. I think because you ran the oil longer you ended up with more buildup in the filter.

Very interesting. I have PP in my stash so I’m curious to know if that helped dislodge extra carbon in your engine. In any case, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the C&P. If you're still seeing some carbon after the next run, maybe switch it up for some Valvoline Restore and Protect. That's a LOT of miles for a 2018!
