Can someone confirm the proper fluid for this car. I posted a couple of days ago and have been searching to confirm the correct fluid with no luck. If you could provide a link from VW would be the best. The only way I was to verify the correct fluid was from this web page:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/4365/VAG_4365_TRAUTO_pg1.htm#item0

I would like something a little more "official" than some parts retailers webpage. VW certainly does not make it easy, I checked owners manual and web with no luck

If you really want to find the correct spec for fluid, you'll need to find the 3 digit trans code on the label on the housing. Your other thread points to it being an Aisin Warner trans, so I don't know how they label their units for VW. The ZF made trans had a green, blue, or black label on them with the code. Example: my Audi is a 01V trans.

The code will help with searches on VW specific forums.

It is likely your 6 speed auto is code 09G, which confirms it's an AW transmission and you can use any JWS3309 or Toyota T-IV fluid as well as the G055025A2 fluid.

treeputtpar,

Thanks for getting back to me. I just cheched for code from engine bay. There is a white sticker and it says the following:

1084
09G
300 039P
07L2T1044

This white sticker is very hard to read with all the clutter. Is this the tag you mention. It appears it to be a 9G transmission. If the label can be viewed from below I will give it a look over the weekend. If it is indeed a 9G I plan to use http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Other_Products/Mobil_ATF_3309.aspx# I do think it is a 9G, just want to make sure

Thanks so much for the help!
