What's your favorite brand for taps and dies? All of those he tested are low end and only good for thread chasers.
My favorite is whatever work buys me. If they break I’m still paid by the hour to remove it. Not my dollar not my problem. I needed some left handed drill bits and they bought some Chinese ones off Amazon…one of the tiny ones is currently broken off in a $1600 compression cylinder and that’s where it will be staying. What's your favorite brand for taps and dies?
Widia GTD (original Greenfield tap and die), Morse, Cleveland, Presto, Guhring and others. These are all high end tooling that produce very precise threads. What's your favorite brand for taps and dies?

Edit: I forgot to mention HSS or HSS and coated taps only for cutting new threads, carbon steel is okay for thread chasing.
I bought some OSG 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm taps, plug type, at Zoro (5pc for $53)....OSG, Cleveland and UB have been good for me...
