Production VW ID. Buzz (Modern T1 Microbus) Revealed

I don't know really what to say. Its cool for a van. My wife at first expressed interest in it. I really don't have a purpose for a van and tend to dislike vans.
Many, many decades ago vans were a thing. I remember the VWs well... camping and party mobiles... as well as my own custom 77 Dodge van. Tuft and pleated interior, heart windows, real air horns with compressor and tank, convertible sofa bed and a kick ___ stereo system ... Oh to go back to those days ... and where I see those whom may still be alive find that VW appealing even more.

(wife just made a good point, actually a really good point, maybe the new VW could be a desirable rental van/car, something different and kids would have a blast on vacation)

I do think it will do well. A lot of space in a more efficient design than an SUV and it pulls at the nostalgia strings a bit. Beyond that it's different enough to stand out so that alone could make it popular. I don't think there's any chance it doesn't do well unless VW botches the drivetrain reliability.

Yeah, always a concern. I LOVE German vehicles but there is always that question of ____
Though I suspect everything is improved now, but you would know better than me. Yes, "nostalgia" much like bring back the beetle for a while and standing out it will. Wife's first impression was it is so cute.

My son does have a 2016 X5 and been dead on reliable which has surprised me, except (gulp) the close to or just over $3000 dollars he spent repairing the AC unit last year. We will see if it goes down hill from there.
He regularly drives new BMWs as his second car, new one 1 or 2 times a year as part of their employee program and brand new they have needed nothing as far as repairs or warranty work..

I'm sure VW will make the EV I want. I like their design language. I just don't like the form factors they've given us so far. ID.7 is a maybe for me, but they'll need to do the Tesla charger thing for me to make it viable unless Electrify America starts going hogwild installing in my area.

Heck I like the hatch form so much I'm starting to consider a Model Y Performance with the price drops. My only issue is it's technically a crossover and extremely heavy and I started out hating that thing for it's stretched Model 3 proportions. Tesla, just give me a Model 3 hatch/wagon!
