Hey all, my uncles 94 Jeep 2.0l wrangler just spewed out half of its oil while driving. The filter is on there tight, I will pull it off later to check for O-ring problems. But I figured I'd ask you pro's. What could be the problem!? The leak is coming from the bottom right side of the engine above the oil pan somewhere. Only leaks while the engine is running.

Oil used: Chevron Supreme 10-30, on a orange can of death (only thing wally carries here other than ST.)
Jeep has 225K miles

That happened to a car of mine and it was a completley blocked PCV as to the cause.

I had an oil pressure switch blow through its diaphragm like that once. I spewed out all around the wire.

Ha! (I had to re-read my post twice to get it!)

yeah its leaking massive from the oil pressure gauge like poster said above. I dont have the tool to remove so i'll be getting one and replacing it tommorow.

BTW does anyone know how to remove the PCV valve from it we seem to have broken it ( was very brittle.) and I don't want to remove the head to get it off.

and it wont come off like normal pcv valves by pulling upwards.

Jeep 2.0L?? Dontcha mean 2.5L? I don't recall my 1997 model year Jeep 2.5L having a replaceable PCV valve. More or less a breather line to the airfilter box and a orificed hose to the IM.

sorry 2.5l, yes it was just a plastic elbow. We found that out quickly after we broke it. Do you happen to know how to replace it.

The Jeep oil pressure sending units can leak bad when they go.
I keep a 3/8 npt plug in the glove box.

The 2.5L uses a metered orifice and has no PCV valve. If you broke one of the plastic elbows, just go get a copper elbow from the hardware store. Low pressure pneumatic copper fittings work great.

I priced the oil pressure switch at NAPA 46 bucks, +PCV Elbow 7 bucks, PCV Grommet (Rubber thingy,) 3 bucks, gonna change the valve cover gasket while were at it 9 bucks, and possibly change the oil filter ST16 with standard valvoline and wish me luck ! lol.

and thanks for all the input, appreciate it!
