going to change the Plugs in my sable in a couple days, 3.5l V6, and because of the transverse mounting, i have to remove the upper intake plenum.

with that being removed and exposing the "clean" side of the intake to the open dirty atmosphere, especially the runs right before the valves, should i go ahead and change the oil?
the current oil and filter(listed in sig) have been in use since oct, maybe 1500 mi. MAYBE.

so, while im sure i am, am i overthinking it? or just let it go.

this is video shows what has to be removed:

Put paper towels in the holes which is always a good idea or cover the holes with masking tape etc as it is a mechanical procedure to cover up opened up things.

Coming from someone who misplaced a bolt only to have it turn up 3 weeks later jamming an intake valve open (it rattled around on the top of the valve until it had been peened small enough to fit between the valve and the seat). Cover the holes!

It would be a long while before anything in the manifold made it to the oil!

Anything that falls in will damages valves and pistons instantly! That's the main issue!

Reminds me of folks tricked into an unnecessary oil change to 'pass' the smog test! Jeeeez!!

well did this job the other night. 5 cylinders went smooth as silk... #3?(back bank, drivers side) didn't want to start in right. by the time i caught on what i was doing... it was rightly buggered and wouldn't back out. liberal application of penetrating oil, an hour or so of soak time, and a 3 ft or so pipe on the end of my breaker got it back out.
the top third of the threads on the plug were flatend. Al block, steel threads on plug, and the plug was messed up. was afraid to think what the head looked like...this is about 7pm, so the nearest parts store that carries MC plugs was closed. Drive mom's Car to the nearest O'rielly (6 mi each way, massive wind storm, winds up to 70mph) $5.99 for another plug. also picked up a new sparkplug socket, and a packet of antiseize.

get back home, spread the goop on that plug, feed it in with the new socket, and it goes well for a little bit, turned a bit hard, but got it fully seated.(afraid i just cut new threads the whole way... hopefully it doesn't blow out or some such... maybe i should uoa this next oci.."elevated Al levels"...)

then i go to change the gasket on the upper intake, Son-of-a-diddly! Felpro put the wrong gaskets in the box. double checked the part number on the box, it was right. so now ANOTHER trip back to Orielly and another $12.99 for the actual right gaskets...OI... (the sad part, the mis-packed set was made in the USA, the correct ones from Orielly, are Made in Mexico. different color too... both the same Fel-pro part number.)

back home, get everything reassembled, fire it off, starts a little rough at first, and i notice a cloud of white smoke..huh, what the... OH YEAH, the penetrant stuff! take it out around the block, everything is smooth, no codes, Bueno!

email rock auto about the gasket snafu, they issue a refund before i go to bed that night, and tell me to hold on the the gaskets for a couple weeks, they MAY ask me to send them in..

oh, and the part i over thought originally, ended up putting masking tape over the holes.
