Oh, by the way my Epson 424 printer on Amazon got like 2 stars average on reviews . 60percent gave it one star. The Brother has over 1000 reviews with a 4 1/2 stars average.

If you go to the Brother website and look up printers anda comparison the 2300 has the same exact look and specs as the 2320. The only thing I saw different was the 2320 printed at 30ppm compared to 27 ppm for the 2300 I bought. So get either one . Someone had in todays newspaper add a 2320 on sale for $59.99, but my 2300 should be here from Amazon tommorow or I would have went and got that today. I do see replacement(off brand ) toner cartridges much cheaper than oem Brother cartridges on Ebay. All the reviews I`ve read up on the only low rankings were either for no wifi or no usb cord included. If they did any research beforehand they would have noticed that.Very, very rare a bad review for a printer that didn`t work properly. The black and 3 color pack of printer cartridges together run me $35 . So 2 changes of ink amounted to what I`m spending on the new Brother. So ,like I said earlier thanks for making a posting on "which printer" to buy.

Got the Brother 2300 in this morning and up and running. Only printed one page other than the auto-matic test pages that came out.So, time will tell, but i don`t think I`ll be sorry.

For all around versatility , speed, quality and longevity of ink I've had real good results with the a Brother MFCL2700DW mono laser machine. It copies, prints, scans and faxes plus it's wireless and works with your smart phone also. An actual Brother 2600 page ink cartridge costs $46 at Staples and the machine is $150. I have to explore using "discount" ink cartridges and see if they are worth it. Anybody have experience with a particular brand or seller on the internet. I've been using this Brother for over a year in my business and it's been real good. Much better than the HP inkjet all in one units I previously used.

I don`t know about your model Whimsey but in my research for the HL 2300D model that uses either tn630 or tn660 cartridges the V4INK brand gets great revues and are a small fraction of the Brother O.E.M brand.`

Go to that store and get a used laser printer. They are real cheep compared to any printer new. If you are not in any hurry wait for a major sales day like black Friday and you can get things at an even lower cost.

I've been buying things from the local computer recycling shop - if you can find an older HP LaserJet printer, grab it. While they can be big and may not have USB they are built to last and there's a good aftermarket for both toner and service parts like rollers, fusers and major parts. A 2000/3000 series printer is IMO the best balance between speed, size and durability.

Many companies will yank the JetDirect print servers out of these - if you get a LaserJet and it still has the JetDirect card installed, you lucked out. Many OSes will have basic HP PCL support out of the box but no zero-config like Bonjour, you'll still need to set the IP address for the printer.

I'm not a Brother fan - sure the toner is cheaper. Their drivers aren't the best and I think they're clunky.

I got a hp laserjet 1000(iirc) for free unfortunately it didnt support any 64 bit drivers.

If you're not printing a lot, I've had good lick with the $30 cannon from Walmart. Tossed the first one because windows 7 wouldn't support my scanner so i bought a combo unit for ....$35

.

It comes with a fair amount of ink. New inkers run $45 for both but last me over a year.

I like having color to print with for school projects and such. If you're only printing tax forms, a laser jet is probably the best.

If you want the option of printing in color, you could do an inkjet with ink tanks built in. Epson sells one here in the US called Eco-Tank. Office Depot sells them. The printer has 4 tanks filled with the red, yellow, blue and black inks. http://www.officedepot.com/catalog/search.do?Ntt=eco-tank

Even with high volume printing you could probably go 6 months to 1 year before refilling it. The downside is the printer is a bit pricey. You can buy ink for the eco-tank in stores, or you can order aftermarket ink to save money.

I personally have a normal Epson inkjet printer with an after-market tank(CISS)set up. In the last year we have printed close to 10,000 pages, heavy on graphics and color. I have been very happy with the set up.

If you are interested, I get my supplies from www.inkproducts.com (I am not affiliated with them... just have used them for many years). It is my understanding you want to buy good ink, from a good supplier. I have read that cheaper inks can mess up the print heads.

My cost per page for heavy graphics on the page is around 1.5 cents per page.
