so i had to have one for the sakes of it. but the price at a NJ pepboys turned me away. 14.99 + 7% sales tax. i opted for a mobil 1 filter at the time. are these normal prices? i checked amazon and they were 17.99 plus shipping! any input appreciated.

Sounds about right. Ridiculous eh?

At the stores near me...

A K&N is $13.99
An M1 is $12.99
A Bosch Distance is $13.49

All good filters, but way over-priced.

Aren't the RP, K&N, and M1 pretty much the same filter? All made by Champion Laboratories?

I think the RP filter is more comparable to the amsoil filter than mobil 1 or k&n.

I tend to agree. The Mobil 1 filter isn't a Glass media type like the Amsoil or Toyota TRD filters for example. Really, an apples to oranges comparison.

Just because they are made by Champ doesnt mean they are the same.

Correct

The RP is a outstanding filter capable of loong OCI's,just a little too pricey for most but....if a guy would use them to there full potential it would be economical.
