we have 4.50 a gal 2 years ago here in San Jose.

Yes, it is to happen right after the mid-terms. It's been well talked about, just google for it.

It's really sad to see it hit everyone, and it's going to hit hard. $2.75/gal here.

Pathetic. $5.00 sounds about right. $4.00/gal is the pain threshold, there will be pain with this going forward.

What will a quart of oil cost??

Of course, when (or if) it happens, people here will dredge up your post and quote it.

Yes I know you are 100% correct.

The American people are about to have their past labor devalued (stolen).

Yes indeed. Gas is going up. In the last few months the futures price of corn, oats, wheat, and soybeans has also doubled. You might not eat much corn, but the food you eat does. So get ready for a nice spike in the price of groceries in 2011.

A hint of good news though, natural gas storage is at historical highs. That means gas prices should be south of $5 per million BTU for awhile. Good news for the upcoming heating season.

Won't be long people will be torching their S.U.V.s , C.U.V.s , and other large vehicles claiming it was stolen and then set on fire . That was common during the last spike of gas prices due to the high depreciation of guzzlers . Some dealers turned them away . Now the roads are full of them thanks to low cost to buy one used or new soon as the gas prices dropped . We'll never learn .

Not only that. The USD has fallen so low, the Canadian and Australian Dollar are now equal to the USD.

That's because they are paving way for the Amero.

Great for you. Unfortunately it kills most everyone else. Not only is it just the cost of fuel, it directly affects the prices of all consumer products, and especially any business that uses vehicles.

True that. But its business as usual if gas hits $6 gallon.

You actually believe that? The RV business went to heck when gas hit $4.00 bucks a gal. a few years ago and still has yet to fully recover. Most are now working a 3 day week and the storage lots are cramed.

Course mayhap this is the new "business as usual".

Theres a couple of problems, first, you will go deaf being that close to the motor and second, something that may cure the deafness, carbon monoxide.

Business as usual as in we will drive the same miles per week/month/year..... no matter what the gas prices are.

An RV is a luxury item that you don't use for driving to work, picking up the kids from school/baseball practice, grocery shopping....etc, etc. I agree that places like Elkhart IN are hurt by high gas/diesel prices.

Still joking, aren't you? A few years ago "thats 5 or 6 years" driving from Elkhart, In. to my home approx. 20 miles you'd never get to turn on your bright's, today their are times when you never have to dim. This after dark of course. Traffic in the main corridor in South Bend is WAY down, same holds true for Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Yup the economy is booming, latest figure out just in the last 2 weeks is Elkhart county has the highest unemployment of any Indiana county.

Folks are not driving as much as they used to, it's a fact whether you wish to admit it or not. Does one wish to pump gas or fill their face?

BTW, just who is the "we".

When I say "we" I am talking about my wife and I.
No I am not joking. People still have a life to live whether gas is $3 or $6 a gallon.

Do I want to pay more for gas ?
Of course not.

Yes, people still have a life to live, but the fact of the matter is folks in general have cut back on the amount they drive. Many people do their shopping while in the city for other reasons rather than going shopping on a whim as was the case a few years ago. Mayhap this doesn't hold true for you and your wife and if not then you may be some of the exceptions that makes the facts true.

Sorry if you can't accept this as a fact and a reality.

Personally I like SUV's. No matter what..Americans will use 10 millions barrels daily. ..whether all cars get 50 mpg or 10 mpg. I would rather have vehicles getting 10 mpg bc it will mean far less traffic and less wear and tear on roads. So really there is little upside to higher mpg cars in the grand scheme of things.
