No doubt. Things are NOT made in china just to save a consumer a few pecentage points in price. For example I picked up a package of ordinary household light bulbs at Walmart the other day. Sylvania was made in USA and less expensive than the GE bulbs made in China. I would've gotten the Sylvania even if the they were more as I've had the china GE not last but most people probably wouldn't.

You would have to check the package to know where it was made.
I have often dealt with one company making belts in multiple countries. Often this would happen because one belt would have ordinary ribs, the next belt would have serrated ribs, and the final belt would have another design feature. I once had to do that when replacing belts on a Honda Civic using Dayco belts.

You know I find more and more Wally World customers actually taking the time to look and see where their widget is being made, which is encouraging considering how many folks that shop at Wally World are not the most thoughtful or intelligent.

I think increasingly people are making the connection that buying "Made In The USA" means more jobs for Americans. So many people have been hit by the recession over the past 5 years or so (many lost their jobs of course) that an impression has been made. Maybe that is the one positive of the recession.

You joined last year just to bump a six year old thread yesterday?

Didn't even notice the OP was from 6 years ago.

Man, all it tells us that nothing has changed in 6 years; our esteemed moderator was then harping on Walmart just like he does today!
