I bought a gas pressure washer on sale at Canadian Tire last year for a screamin' deal. However, it is LOUD. I have neighbours that are reasonably close and I really don't feel right running it when they are home because of this. Which sucks for using it for things around the house. It's a little Briggs OHV 4-stroke beast, anybody done a muffler replacement on one of these to make them less offensive? My little Honda-powered mower is dead quiet and I was thinking of maybe a muffler similar to what's on it?

I run a longer hose on mine and place accordingly. It's 11hp and in over 30 years of using it I never heard a complaint.

Buy one of these (either 1/2NPT or 3/4 NPT sizes) and weld it to the outlet hole of the current muffler.

It will make a HUGE difference

Look up the parts diagrams on Briggs website. There are usually several different muffler options. There may be a quieter muffler for it that will be a direct replacement.

Are you allowed to make reasonable noise during the day in Canada? Down here I can pressure wash from sun up to sun down, without concern.

Dont worry about it? Its not like you are going to pressure wash for 8 hours a day ten times a year. Nothing wrong with running the pressure washer for a couple of hours on Saturday.

Yeah, there's nothing prohibiting me from running it, I'm just trying to be polite.
