Ive heard that the government is going to impose 30 day waiting periods and background checks on pressure cookers. There may also be a ban on extra capacity (2Gal+) cookers. Has any one else heard of this?

Any pressure cooker is now considered an assault weapon and must be registered at your local Police dept, those with built in timers are subject to confiscation.
Same with assault box cutters with more than 1 extra blade in the handle.

Nails, ball bearings, glassware, fireworks, etc cannot be sold with a pressure cooker.
Sounds crazy but i would bet some nut job is thinking about this quite seriously right now.

Not even as a joke ... I kind of expect this to happen. This country seems to be scared of harmless things and not people

You know one of the disadvantages of internet you really don't know much about the person. As a result because you are trying to find out about motor oil, you may or may not take what they say is true or not. If someone was giving you advise and they could be seen and was in a hospital gown would you take their advise?? No because you can see them. Recently subjects other than motor oil have allowed us insight into how some think. If seeing how they think re. other subjects makes you realize you may have a wing nut and taking advise from them re. motor oil might not work out for you.

I find no humor in the events in Boston. I find humor in our governments (and half of the population) failure to control criminals, but rather deprive the rest of us of the tools that some would use to commit those crimes.

Political motive disguised as humor to avoid sanction my the mods here.

Trivializing a horrific incident for the sake of a lame joke

If the mods wish this deleted I will not argue. Was not attempting a debate. Just making a statement. It does prove that controling guns wont end crime and senseless massacre though.

Exactly! No one finds humour in the bombing just the way some people and the news media have reacted to the pressure cookers. These people are truly a few fries short of a happy meal!

"The two bombs in Boston were contained in backpacks ...

...it is too easy to conceal an IED(improvised explosive device) in a backpack
"

Lot of folks "sheltering in their homes" in Watertown at the suggestion of MiniMe wished they had a firearm to protect their families.

And to disarm those of us WITHOUT "VIP protection" for our "own good".

Congress won't stand up to the pressure cooker lobby and pass common sense restrictions on pressure cookers.

When pressure cookers are outlawed only outlaws will have pressure cookers.

If it saves just one life, isn't it worth it?
