The Doctor put me on Brilinta , a cholestral pill and a high blood pressure pill . I will soon be out of the Brilinta and quit taking the other two . The skin on the palm of my hands itch and are peeling and am wondering if it's a side effect and am thinking of discontinuing the Brilinta .

Are there any Prescription Drugs you refuse to take ?

I would be really hard pressed to take any narcotic. I also don't like any kind of allergy medicine; it makes me feel like ....

That is a pretty heavy duty med there. Used for strokes and heart issues it appears. Discuss with doctor and explain the effects on your hands. See what he says. If you are just wanting to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, there are a million dirt cheap/free generics out there. The drug he has you on seems to be something beyond what you mentioned. Your doctor should be your info resource for these type of concerns.

drs recommend scripts you either accept or decline them!! do the research + learn about recommendations. myself i have refused ALL cholesterol meds, RESEARCH + learn, YOU are the BOSS!!!

I don’t think I’d ever not take something but I have the same 2 conditions. Atorvastatin, and amlodipine. No side effects but not sure the latter is working.

Yesterday the doctor wanted me on blood pressure and cholesterol drugs. My BP was 128 over 72 and my cholesterol is in the 300s. There is NO history of heart disease in my extended family and high cholesterol is normal in my family. I told him I was not taking either drug. He said I have a 24% chance of dying of a heart attack in the next 10 years. I said "Okay." I told him I would keep working on reducing my weight instead.

It’s hard to know how the 24% came about. But I wouldn’t like those odds.

It would also be good to know (for yourself) what your good cholesterol and A1C are. My mom is underweight and she has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Sometimes it’s simply hereditary.
