Little excess glue in the one area, nothing serious. Just being honest, seen better pleat spacing uniformity on most PG made filters posted here. But, clearly not an issue here. Filter did its job.

I am curious, how many "quarts of oil" needed to keep topped up over 3200 miles? I'm assuming it's a 2.4L? Also if you know, was PGXL coo Vietnam or China?

Thanks for c&p!

Vietnam filters

Yes, it’s the 2.4. I’m not exactly sure but I have to add it weekly. Probably 4 qts added over the 3k miles…

4 quarts in 3K miles? Wow. I'm surprised your catalytic converter/O2 sensors aren't throwing codes or you're losing power on acceleration. If you're not getting that, you will be soon.

Maybe try a piston soak? With that much carbon buildup on rings, you probably have scoring on cylinder walls. That's a lot.....

Went through this on the KIA Rio in signature. Even with 5K mile OCI since new, still happened.

Thanks. I actually did a cleaning once with sea foam and a leak down tester. There was no doubt the was a ring stuck at first. It didn’t seem to fix the problem. Hyundai actually has a good procedure you can find online. Maybe I should try again with another product…

Some people also have the high pressure fuel pump leaking and diluting the oil. I have never smelled gas in the oil so I don’t think that is it. I consider replacing it just to try it, but those pumps are expensive.

Original engine? What color is the dipstick? I don't recall if 2015 is covered under the recall. Our 2013 actually didn't burn a drop but it seized up at 90k miles. The brand new engine so far doesn't burn any either but it only has less than 10k so far.
It's possible you will get a free engine at some point and then the oil usage won't be a concern anymore.

Yes. Orange.

I think it’s covered, and that’s kinda why I’ve been holding out. Overall the car is in great condition, so I figured a new engine would be perfect. I’m not sure mine is going to die…

This is covered in the video.. the guy is showing how those product are not so strong and they did not work for him either so later in the vid he switches to Berrymans B12 chemtool and it fixes it.. Also.. read many of the comments below the vid and you will see the success so many have with the berrymans.. I hope you are watching on a computer and not a phone Lol .

Update: Engine started knocking 800 miles after this oil change. Hyundai is replacing the engine, hopefully long block but I'm not sure yet.
Did they give you any grief for not having an OEM filter on it?

None. After reading all the horror stories, I was actually surprised they didn’t ask for anything either.

Im not sure it it was:
1) Luck
2) I keep all my oil change dates and info in the bluelink website
3) the engine internals looked too clean to blame oil changes
When we had our 2013 engine replaced they told it we needed receipts which showed the vin number (I did our oil changes the past few years so I didn't have that) or pay a small inspection fee which is what we did and it was approved because the engine was clean.
The blue link thing could suffice if it links the maintenance to the vin number.

Wow.......that's a racket right there. Not even sure thats legal.

When mine blew up they didn't say a word besides "hyundai has to approve it". Took 2 weeks to approve the new inspection port in the side of the block.
