What yuo guys think if I put a donut screen like those Moroso, with 70 mesh and 210 microns capacity for an engine flush. Just to get some bigger specks? Will that restrict too much? The moroso is a 280 microns 16 mesh screen and doesn't rrestric even a 20w50 in cold wheater.

I doubt it's restrictive but it probably won't catch anything. If you have that many particles floating around your going to need a new engine in short order.

A mean flocks of sludge/carbon that get loos and the pump doesn't smash at first pass. Isn't feasable? Inside the filter you find particles much wider than 210 microns. 210 Isn't that biiig ...

The screen itself won't be restrictive but what about when the screen clogs from the "sludge/carbon" ?

Might be better off changing the filter more often and cutting it open to see how its handling your specific interval.

I would think the screen on the oil pump pick-up tube would basically do the same job. If those large opening screens clog up, then there's some major junk floating around inside the engine.

[censored] right it could clogg! But I was talking about a flush use only to see how much specks I'd get, to see if that flush add is really working... After the flush the filter would have to be discarded anyway and I take the screen for inspection. Nonetheless if you guys agree that wouldn't be much restrictive for a short use, I'll try! Thanks!

If you put a screen in like you described, I'd pull the filter after only 100 miles to see what it's catching. If not much, then run it longer and check again.

Thing is, if a screen at the inlet holes on the base of the filter clogs up, the positive displacement oil pump will just build up more and more pressure to force the oil through, and it could end up starving the engine. The filter's bypass valve will not help in this situation.

You might get better results just going with a much larger filter. A full flow spin on filter will filter in the 5-30 micron range and you just need more capacity to keep up with the flush. Just stick a huge long filter on there and flush it good if it needs it.
