Thanks! Love the PQIA, thanks to them I've got STP 5w30 on deck for my next OCI.

Appreciate all you guys do.

Tom would this be considered a bio-ester derived oil?

G-Oil claims to be bio-based. They are very vague about their base oil chemistry.

From perusing their website they state that it's derived from beef tallow and also refer to it as an "unsaturated fatty ester, Methyl Oleate."

I've been buying it at Dollar General, using coupons it's costing me $2.25 a quart and the STP looks stronger on paper than a lot of big name brands.

Curiosity has gotten the best of me, I plan to run it next OCI and do my first ever UOA on it as a contribution to BITOG for posterity.

Yes. Oils are sampled randomly. If there are several grades of a given brand on the retail shelf, we will tend to take the 5w30 since it is a much more popular grade.

I guess their proof reading is about as good as their quality control and product.

Many thanks to Tom and the PQIA for all their work and sharing the information with us.

There is even more:
"turbo charge gasoline"
shouldn't that be "turbo charged"?

Looks like this is made in USA all right, but in a shop with illegals.

Now, technically, they don't claim that they are API certified, or even that the oil SAE 5W30, so no API or SAE rules apply to this oil. But, they did mention SF/CC, should API go after them?

Very slimy. I guess the lesson is one needs to read the fine print. I bet no BITOGer would ever fall for this "patriotic" oil.

I have to say that for the price that I can get any LARGE BRAND NAME OIL on sale/rebate or discontinued from a store shelf, I will stay with the brand name oils.

Although, I am on the boat with those who like the PEAK OIL. I first got the PEAK 5W30, 30 qts/6 ProLine Filters (FAR) when it was first introduced at PebBoys.

When my daughter just got her '06 Mazda3(3 yrs old in '09) w/50K miles and I wanted to do some low 3K mile OCI's as we didn't really know the maintenance history so, I used the PEAK.

I(dad) wanted to be satisfied before going to 5K mile OCI's. From a "seat of the pants" feel & sound of the engine, I really like the PEAK for 5K mile OCI's. I like it better than the HavolineDS(20+ qt stash) I am currently using(I've been a Havoline Fan for years).

I also have a stash(20 qts) of Quaker State Conventional waiting in the wings. All 3 oils(Peak, HavDS, Quaker State Conventional) show to be very good in the PQIA testing. Will be using all of these oils in all of our vehicles.

I love looking for oils that are being discontinued, for their low price on a good product.

Often when an oil is being discontinued, it often means that the store that I frequent is only making shelf space for something else, not that the oil itself isn't being marketed any longer. Often this is the case!

Peak 5w30 is looking to be a sleeper oil in its current formulation, and for only 13 dollars for 5qts it is a steal.

Yea, I got a couple gallons of Peak that was on clearance at Fleet Farm. Part of the stash-ola...

It is very slightly over the maximum of 6,600cP in the cold cranking test.

In my area PB's, the Peak & ProLine(SuperTech too) have the same markings on the bottoms of their bottles(W/ne)
