10 months in service, tons of short trips, 1 quart makeup oil, FL910S oil filter, OE air filter
Blackstone says: You mentioned that you do a lot of short trips. Between that, the 11,657 miles on the oil, and the 10 months in service, we sort of expected high wear, but nothing is out of line here. Averages are based on about 4,500 miles on the oil, so the slightly higher iron reading in your sample is to be expected as your oil run was a lot longer than average. Extra iron is fine unless it makes the oil abrasive and causes other wear. That hasn't happened here. No contamination was found, and the TBN of 2.1 shows active additive left. Try up to 13,000 miles next time.
I say: Wanted to stick with the MFG recommended 10K interval, but was out of town when the service interval came up. No Big Deal to me. I'll run this combo to the recommended 10K/12 months with confidence in the future. Probably won't sample again until 40-50K miles on unit.
