powerflo good oil filter?

My local shop uses this with their oil changes,i was wondering if they are decent?
I ask this couse normally i do my own oil changes but lately its been cold.

It's essentially a rebadged Purolator PremiumPLUS/Classic, just like Group 7 and ProLine. Cheap and decent but some have reported less media than the PP/Classic.

It is one more made by Purolator, likely about as good as the
Classic and similar to the various Champ brand conventional construction and the lower priced Wix made filters. Some of them may have a thread end bypass along the Champ Ecores. The Champ and Wix stuff usually is made in America by an American company. The Purolator stuff all supports German fat cats.

Good description, also similar to old AAP Total Grip. Anywhere from ~$2.00 - $2.50 at AAP last time I checked. A good deal if you can get them. And as an fyi, made in the USA.

Purolator also supports all the Americans (taxpayers) who work at the Purolator factory (in NC)....which is the largest filter factory in the world.

I'm sure your not against foreign companies such as Toyota, Honda and other auto makers who open plants in the U.S and keep Americans working...are you?

You need to get with it...many foreign companies have ownership here in America...but they do keep Americans working........

Comparing them to the orange can is not exactly a rousing endorsement.

That aside, PowerFlo's are decent filter at a reasonable price. I just wonder if they will be around and available for a while.

Which is fine, of course. We're all entitled to our opinions and yours is just as valid as anyone else's.

But if you're going to complain about a product, please complain about the product itself, not the company who makes it. There are lots of Fram-bashers here. What are they bashing? The filters, not the brand. Some Ecore bashing, also, but it's the design and not Champion Labs as a whole. You don't seem to want to separate the two or see the difference between them.

You obviously don't like Purolator's new owners- fine, we get it. Trust me, we ALL get it. But the constant digging at 'the German fat cats' has gotten very old. That dead horse is just a pile of bones and dust now. There has to me more to your deep dislike of Purolator now than just the fact that they are owned by a foreign company now. There HAS to be. This seems personal.

Oh yeah, it's obviously personal. Labman knows the Purolator filter is a lot better than many in it's price range ... he just tries to continually bad mouth the foreign owned angle all he can for some hidden agenda IMO.

No it is just that I got sick of you and several others continually raving over how great what always was an ordinary filter was. I am quite convinced a number of you work for Purolator or at least are paid shills.

Over the years I have cut open many filters, and the Purolator was quite mid pack.

Buy American has always been a strong theme here. I have pointed out that it needs to be extended to the ownership. From the way you react to it, it would seem the Purolator lobby is worried about others agreeing with me. As they keep pushing their filter, I keep pointing out you can about the same from American owned companies. I have never seen a good reason to buy foreign when the same quality and price are available from an American source. None of you has any business discouraging me from posting my views.

One more time, Purolator is a rather ordinary filter comparable to much of its competition except for its foreign ownership.

Oh well, get over it or not, makes no difference. Purolator make quality designed, efficient oil filters made in the USA. Results also confirmed in riverrats bench tests, and many Bitog members. Great bang for the buck filters.

And, it is you that consistently takes every Purolator related thread (and others), like this one, off topic with your ownership agenda.

I have a suggestion though, if you are "sick" of some posters' posts, put them on ignore poster. Simple solution, and then you won't have to be as sick.

Yes, please do so with me. River Rats testing proved the all American STP was about the same as the same priced Purolator. Purolator is a rather ordinary filter mostly distinguished by its foreign ownership. In many applications you can pick up a highly similar ST for 80% as much. ''Great bang for the buck''? What a joke.

So why do you and a few others continually rave over one more filter?

Yeah, that's the part that gets old ... I don't mind labman trying to prove that the Purolator is "inferior" or just and "average" filter ... just keep the foreign owned US company comments out of every one of his posts would be nice. Most people here will buy a product due to it's price and quality (aka "value") regardless of where it's made. Some people do take into account where it's made (labman - obviously!), or even to another level of if the company has any foreign ownership or not. That is their own personal buying choice prerogative, but don't try to cram that personal prerogative down everyone's throat every chance you get (ie, in every post you make).

The PowerFlo does have less media then a Purolator Classic/PremiumPlus
