Choice between Cardone ($40 w/pulley) or Motorcraft ($100).
There are some other brands but I have no experience with them.

Cardones reviews don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling, but that could be amateurs not bleeding air or whatnot. There is nothing new for this car (Lincoln Conti).

Replacing this pump is really not fun (a/c discharge, hidden bolts), but I'm not going to be keeping it forever. Guess either one is a [censored].

I purchased a reman cardone pump last year for my 93 Regal after the original wore out. Within 1 day of installing it I had bearing material in the ps fluid and reservoir. I ended up removing it and brought it back for a refund. Then went to the junk yard and picked up a low mileage oem one and added an in-line filter and everything has been good for the last year. I'm sure it's hit or miss but I did not have a good experience with the cardone pump.

I bought a remanufactured PS pump off eBay. Thing failed within a year. I went back to the junkyard for a used one. I'd stick with a used pump.

Ok, seems unanimous here ....
Went with the motorcaft. Rockauto had the best price.
A used one with shipping is probably going to be around $60 (ebay avg price), not worth to mess around. I wouldn't want to bother with this in a pick and pull, even if there was one local.

The cardone though was very attractive with the pulley - but I read reviews that it leaked.

How does that work for pros? Do they at least reimburse their labor? Most shops here have a 3-4 month warranty (seeing the back of paperwork when I get tires or inspection)- hopefully it survives that. I trust Ford because they don't want comebacks, it comes right out of their pocket.

I also called a local shop-owner I know and he sends people elsewhere if they don't like the Ford OEM price. He said yeah, its that bad.

Pros wouldn't buy the Cardone in the first place because they know it's likely to come back. So yes they quote the OEM pump and install it, if the customer doesn't like the price they can (please) go somewhere else.

Took four times to get a good pump just recently. The first two Cardone pumps from Advance were junk. Advance acknowledged that Cardone was having manufacturing problems. I changed pumps so many times my hands were not getting greasy.

Went to O'Reilly because they were suppose to be BBB pumps. The first one was a BBB pump, and it lasted about a week. Took it back, and got another pump from O'Reilly, and it looked just like the other BBB pump, but had different instructions, and the 3F sticker on it gave it away that it was a Cardone pump. I think Cardone owns BBB now, but the pumps coming out of the BBB plant look better than the Cardone junk. Anyway, that last pump has been working good.

DNJ is selling new pumps for a good price, but I don't know about the reliability. Can find them at RockAuto and Amazon.

Its a big hassle. Plus they do not pay full labor to replace defective parts.

Good call with the Motocraft on a difficult application like yours. Not something you want to tear apart every few months.

The Cardone reman on my Accord has been fine for the past year *knock on wood.* Reviews say it's definitely hit or miss.

Anything but Cardone, however I will say Cardone is a [censored]. I had luck with one on a Nissan Quest and a Corolla, and one was DOA on a friend's former Subaru.
