Mobil 1 ATF Ok for 2005 corolla power steering fluid? Will be using state of the art turkey baster technology for this procedure.

I've used this for years to hopefully extend the power steering life. Toyota wants a DEXRON type III for this, I do believe. Don't worry about the color of existing fluid as at the factory Toyota uses UNDYED fluid. You'll only replace about 8 ozs. I do it several times a year for that reason.

It is true that Toyota has required ATF, yet put uncolored fluid in the P/S system. I suspect also, that the factory fluid is made much more cheaply than real ATF, my friends Scion TC had terrible deposits on the reservoir and dipstick after 30,000 miles, I never saw that much junk in other Toyota products that had real ATF.

And synthetic ATF in this kind of power steering system is always a great idea. I have done it to several cars and never been disappointed.

I've used Mobil 1 ATF in power stearing pumps for nearly 15 years and have never had a pump failure. Every engine oil change I use a turkey baster, draw out the fluid and top off with new Mobil 1 ATF. FWIW I do the same with the brake fluid.
