Also good suggestion, I've done this also.

Bob

Thanks. A squirt of Dawn followed by an overnight hot water soak in a VERY strong dose of Sears HE detergent did it.

I used the Amsoil powdered detergent for years. I have recently gone to using liquid wisk 3x and it does a better job in my opinion.

I'm still not a pro when it comes to laundry. My clothes are clean and don't stink, what else can I ask for. LOL

Amsoil makes laundry detergent?

They reduced the P levels in that stuff a long time ago, and laundry detergent has been 100% synthetic for ages. They're even moving to bio based stuff in a lot of products.

And now we have the 0w-20 laundry detergents that work in cold water.

I placed my weekly order and decided to get a pail of the Pure Power stuff. Trust me, my wife will give me an honest review...that is when she's up to doing the laundry again. For now, you got me. Oh, we have a huge box of Tide to work through......

I use liquid. It has always treated my clothes well. I can't remember the brand, but it is some kind of dye and scent free hypoallergenic detergent. I bought it because it was the cheapest at Sam's club.

FYI - don't forget to clean the lint trap. One of my neighbors set their dryer on fire because they never cleaned it. It smelled pretty bad.

My wife says that Amsoil Pure Power cleans very well. I reserve if for grungey loads, like shop towels and stuff. Seems to cut grease way better than Tide.

Soytainly. I used a very small quantity for some Chinese grease (stanky) laden stuff. No stink, no grease. I had a full load of oily rags, dirty towels from the garage - I didn't think one scoop (the supplied scoop is quite small) would do it, so I did use a scoop and half (normally I would use 3 scoops of Tide) - not only was the stuff clean, it didn't leave a ring of oil in the tub.

I like Tide liquid for regular clothes and Woolite Dark for black t-shirts and delicates. I just stick with what has worked for me. Those two brands don't seem to eat clothes as much as others do.

Oil stains on clothes get a shot of Simple Green (full strength) before washing as usual. Always works.

I'm running a bit load on Tide HE, so I went ahead and bought some of this stuff. It's rated #1 by CR:

$11.99 from Costco.

Does it come Kirkland Free... meaning unscented?

Yes, it's available in a "Free and Clear" version as well. That one was $11.69.

However, I'm not sure if the performance of the two products is identical. I don't think CR tested the "Free and Clear" version.

I use peroxide on blood stains even after the item has been washed the stain have always come out. For a lot of stains I soak the laundry in Biz for several hours. I like liquid in cold water. I use 1/3 the soap the instruction on the box suggest and I always have very white clothes and my washer does not have a dried suds build up.

As for an environmentally friendly (bio-degradable, soy-based), liquid concentrate, a 100 fl oz bottle (100 loads) ULTRA ECOS costs under $9 at Smart&Final.

Michael should consider waiting for someone with very clean clothes to do their laundry, then collect the wash water and re-use it on his load. You can't beat free!

Wow, that woman's a keeper for sure.
