Potential Volvo Spec Change

While the drop down for 2025 seems missing now, the other day some 2025 Volvo manuals appeared on the USA support site.

I noticed a new oil spec: VCC C6SP

Depending on the model, the wording would state to the effect that VCC C6SP 0w20 is recommended (particularly the same Castrol Professional), with C6 SP 0w20 the minimum spec.

Previously the Volvo spec was VCC RBS0-2AE.

I just thought it was interesting and that I noticed so early. It seems like C6 SP would make a few more products available for these cars off the shelf.

Oil specs are gearing up for a change & this probably has something to do with it. I know they're gearing up for GF-7 for 2025.

It makes sense. The old Volvo spec was based on C5, so why wouldn’t they move with the times and allow C6 and SP oils? It’s logical.
