I try my best not to use them at all but sometimes it just cant be helped. If you look at some of the people that work there these days you will understand. Some barely speak English. Some drive their personal cars its just nuts. The old timers were great but they too were fed up with all the B.S. and really did not care but at least got it right.

Oh yeah. Same problem here with wrong mail. Its an everyday occurance. Every few weeks we even get mail for people in nearby towns. Once it was mail for someone in Idaho. Im in the dead center of Washington. How do you screw up that bad?
Yet, Ive never gotten a postage due. Even on stuff Ive ordered from Hong Kong, China, Singapore.
Oh! Now that I think about it. I did have an issue with a package from New Zealand. I never got notified of its arrival and it got returned to the sender. No reason whatsoever. They sent it second time and it came no problems.

Well, have you guys ever flew through connecting airport? Why do I have to go through security again even if I was already checked at the origin airport? Same concept is applied here!

The only way I can see this happening is if they have a remote/disconnected terminal layout and have a security checkpoint for each one. Normally, you don't have to go through security twice. I've never had to do that.

I've also never received a postage due package. The OP sure has lousy luck with packages, whether it's USPS, FedEx, or UPS!

Never hears of this. Doesn't postage have to be paid before USPS accepts it.

Unless your senders are dropping it of in a box??

As I see it, this rubbish would stop quickly, if the FIRST post office that handles package, would properly verify the weight and postage.

Then, if it isn't correct, hold it at the post office, until someone comes in and pays proper postage. After these idiots get enough of this, they'd knock it off.

But no, the USPS is too stupid/lazy/ignorant/apathetic to properly protect their revenue stream. They'll just hemorrhage money like always, and then beg and plead for a fee increase once they start falling into massive debt, yet again.

As far as I know that is what happens now. I ship packages that are 4-10 ozs. Figure out the postage and stick it on them. The local small town PO will always weight them before passing them on to the distribution center. Sometimes I screw up but they then call me and add the postage. The mailman will then bring me a bill.

eBay customer for 15+ years and I have never had this happen to me. Ever.

I've been Ebay-ing it for 13 years, and this summer was the first time it happened to me. EBay could have cared less. I basically got the brush off. Thankfully, the seller was good as gold and made it right.

In my case the seller used the wrong Priority Mail box. She put it in a Regional box and it should have been one of the standard ones. She ended up paying more in shipping than the item was worth ($25).

IIRC, Ebay is now including shipping in their fees because sellers would try to game the system by inflating S&H costs to dodge the commission. I think it's all fair game now. I think.

I figured out a way to make it better... When i get a letter that does not belong to me i write on the letter in big bold red letters WRONG ADDRESS AGAIN!!

It really seems to help especially when i personally drop them off at my post office when i go to my post office box.. WRONG ADDRESS AGAIN...LOL
When the bosses see that they see red also..
I also tip my mail carrier $50.00 at Christmas because that makes a big difference but we didnt have a regular until Jan.1st

I had this happen once with an eBay purchase. It looked like the seller had a system to print your own labels at home and sent me the item by USPS "book rate". The item didn't qualify for book rate (a chainsaw bar) and I owed some postage on it. Like $2-3 worth IIRC. My mailman said this was a fairly common thing these days and to be careful with online purchases.

I emailed the seller and they apologized and reimbursed me via PayPal, so it wasn't too big a deal.

And yet again...

Yesterday, another notice appeared in my mailbox from the Post Office, that a package addressed to me is being held for $1.54 in ransom money.

It appears that it is time for me to start documenting all of this rubbish, and if it continues, to contact Postal Authorities higher up.

This is the second one in less than five weeks.

It is one thing to be paranoid, but it is something completely different when it appears that you are being singled out.

It is getting pretty obvious that the mental midgets who work in the local Post Office need more work, and less idle time when they're on the clock.

That is MEAN. Take it back.

They're making sure everyone plays by the rules. They're a business.

I would not pay the ransom, and charge back the item on your credit card, b/c you never got it, and leave whatever awful feedback you're allowed.

LOL, good luck with that. My daughter lives in a somewhat larger city and has had a few problems getting regular AND signed mail delivered to her apartment complex. So she went to her post office and complained about it. Guess what? Now, very few packages get delivered, even when it is listed as being delivered. And it's in a secure area where people just can't steal her mail, either. When it comes to getting tattled on, I guess the postal workers have an elephant memory.
She now has to have all important items delivered to her by UPS/FedEx or the like or she has to have it delivered to her employer's address.

Yep. It is time to change it so that my deliveries are sent to my office address, which is thankfully in a different city.

I can do that. They don't really care if packages are delivered there.

I guess it is also time to have my bills switched over to e-mail delivery, so I can reduce the total amount of mail delivered to my house.

These people really need a hobby.

I have started to do that, especially with Amazon. Working in the parts department, we get all the UPS and FedEx deliveries. Although it made for an awkward moment a few weeks ago when the 6.0L diesel ARP headstuds went to my house and the gun parts came to work.

I had online billing for more than 10-15 years, no mails no trash.

I also had all my bills paid automatically, either with credit card(s) or withdraw directly from my bank.

Nothing to worry about missing bills and/or missing payment.
