post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2007 Hyundai Sonata I4
54k miles
4.75 quarts of Castrol Import Vehicle ATF

Nissan trannies are quite bullet proof if you take care with drain/fills. I got 200K of my maxima with drains/fills/flushes with regular Dexron type ATF.

Amsoil is an overkill but the tranny will last a long time (if unabused, clean the speed sensor with regular ATF xchanges).

Thanks for the advise. Amsoil may be overkill in any application, but at $8.50 a quart and rated for the Nissan Matic-D, I didn't feel to bad about it. Plus, in my area, DexronIII/Mercon was hard to come by in a known brand. I didn't trust the Walmart SuperTech in it for an extended amount of time and I could only find Valvoline, non-synthetic for $5.89 per quart.

Also, it had been neglected. I would not doubt if it was the factory fill from 2002 with 113,XXX miles on it was still in it. No problems though. I do agree that Nissan did pretty good with the Maxima. I felt sorry for the car and wanted to treat her to some high quality lube.

Drained 4 quarts of brownish-looking ATF from the SIL's 2002 Rav4; put in 4 quarts of MaxLife Dex/Merc. Not a full flush, but better than nothing.

Just added a 2007 OEM Honda trans fluid cooler and a Magnafine to my 2006 Honda Odyssey. Also added the Power steering cooler so I am ready to tow.

Took out about 7 quarts of old Z1 ATF and replaced with new DW-1. One drain and fill and then pumped out 4 quarts through the coolant line while running through the gears. . The old Z1 was the factory fill and had a blueish tint when drained.

This weekend...

1986 Mazda B-2000, 212,XXX, (3) quarts of Amsoil Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90, GL-4 Rated; (2) quarts of Amsoil Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube, GL-5 Rated

Why put syntheitc in a 25 year old truck? In the next coming weeks, I will be recieving a company car and my truck will be doing some sitting up.

After the change, I could tell a big difference in the first shift to 1st gear. Very smooth into 1 and 2, 3 and 4 were never really notchy and 5th feels slightly better.

1993 Toyota Tercel - 3 Speed Auto - 277960KM

Drained Trans and Differential (both with Drain Plug) and replaced with Castrol Domestic MV AFT. Old fluid still looked good - slightly darker than new stuff.

Was last serviced 2 years ago at Transmission shop and replenished with unknown fluid - whatever they used in bulk.

Virtually no metal shavings in transmission or differential. Transmission drained about 2.5L and 1.5L from differential.

Cost including fluid and drain plug gaskets (from dealer) was $19.00. Given the ease of doing this without having to drop the pan, I think I'll continue on a yearly basis.

Hello, Second sump drain within 400 miles in our "new to us" 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero w/56,625 miles (90,600 km). ~4 quarts of Toyota TYPE T-IV (a 3309 fluid) each time. Fluid looks so much better now. Perhaps a third drain come the next oil change. Kira

Replaced the clutch in my daughter's 1999 Accord 4 cyl at 135K miles since it had a narrow friction point. The lining wasn't thin, but I think it was hard from overheating. Flywheel looked good, and I just sanded it a bit. The tranny got 2 quarts of Honda MTF. The new clutch worked great with much less pedal effort.

I swapped the oem Honda MTF for Redline MT-90 Synthetic in my 5 speed. The difference is quite noticable by "butt dyno". It's like a hot knife goin' through butter. Highly recommended!

Just a few minutes ago I changed my yaris transmission fluid from its factory fill after 42,784 miles to Castrol Syntec 75w90. Noticeable difference in shifting but not much to have been worth while but I was craving a fluid change of some sort.

2004 GTO 12qt flush with Kendall Classic ATF. First change that it has had. Mileage 51k.
